Tasmania were 3/59 at tea on the third day at Drummoyne Oval after dismissing the Blues for 364 in the first session. The visitors trailed by 37 runs at the interval.

Mitchell Starc has two of the three wickets to fall with figures of 2-11 from as many overs following his 5-40 in the first innings.

Matthew Wade (11 not out) and Ben McDermott (1 not out) were unbeaten at the crease.

Tasmania had the better of the first session, on day three, claiming 8/78 to dismiss the Blues, who led by 96.

Fast bowler Riley Meredith claimed 5-98, his maiden five-wicket haul in First Class cricket, including the two centurions Moises Henriques (124) and Steve Smith (106).

Kurtis Patterson (16 not out) batted at No. 11, with a runner, due to the recurrence of a quad injury. Nathan Lyon provided a useful 30 from 41 at No. 10.
