Western Australia name Marsh Cup Squad

Western Australia will back in the same extended squad of 15 players for tomorrow’s Marsh One Day Cup final against New South Wales at the CitiPower Centre in St Kilda.

Skipper Ashton Turner has the option of captaining 10 Australian representatives including himself, Cam Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Hilton Cartwright, Shaun Marsh, Joel Paris, Josh Philippe, Jhye Richardson, D’Arcy Short and Andrew Tye.

Promising young allrounder Aaron Hardie showed his worth again on Tuesday, collecting 3-28 from 7.4 overs during WA’s six wicket win against Victoria.

Matt Kelly impressed with the new ball in the same match and was damaging during Perth Scorchers’ triumphant 2021-22 KFC Big Bash League campaign.

Sam Whiteman offers experience and class at the top of the order; Nick Hobson – fresh from signing a two-year contract extension with the Scorchers – has the ability to play a variety of roles with the bat; and Lance Morris is capable of clocking speeds above 150km/h.

Tomorrow’s contest will be WA’s fourth One Day Cup final in five years, after winning the 2017-18 and 2019-20 tournaments before stumbling at the final hurdle versus New South Wales last season.
