Flames sweep the weekend points

After falling back a goal early in the 1st, the Flames replied to level then added a couple more early in the 2nd to get out to a 3-1 lead that eventually translated to a 3-2 win at Nottingham Panthers.

Samuel Herr put Panthers in front at 1:25 on a powerplay but Kruise Reddick’s powerplay marker in the 7th minute had the teams knotted at a goal each after 20 minutes.

Just over 2 minutes after re-start Owen Griffiths put Flames in front for the first time and an Ian Watters follow up just under 2 minutes after that opened a 3-1 gap. Samuel Herr brought Panthers within a single at 34:52 but that closed the scoring for evening and sent the Flames home with the table points.

“We are thrilled to come out of here with a win,” said Paul Dixon

“It was a tough start falling behind when the game had barely started, but we didn’t let it turn into any kind of catastrophic start so that is a good outcome from that part of the night.”

“We got some timely scoring and then were able to play tight enough to prevent a full comeback so it is a good way to close out another 4 point weekend and a nice confidence booster when we are back here in 3 days for the opener in the Cup Quarter Final.”
