Burradoo Polocrosse Club at Bungendore Showgrounds

Bungendore certainly reminded us of why it has its cold reputation, with a very windy, chilly weekend, but that didn't stop the success of our teams.

* A Open team consisting of Sam, Alan, Michael, Tom, Daniel, Mat
They played Lake George in the morning and Yass in the afternoon. Both games were fast and close at points but Burradoo came out winner’s by a couple of goals in each, With only three teams in the competition, they played Lake George again on Sunday morning. This time the ball bounced the other way and the boys went down by two. In the afternoon it was Yass again- this was another close one but at times-end the boys got up by 4 goals which made them winners of the A open. Michael picked up the Best Horse and Rider in the competition. Congratulations the all 6 players,
* B open team consisting of Ella, Jake, Sally, Riley, Ken, Andrew

On Saturday morning they played Sydney with Burradoo having a nice run on the ball and had a good win by 5 goals. In the afternoon they played Bungendore which was a tougher game and they ended up going down by three. Sunday morning they played Wollondilly in a semi-final. This was another tough one and despite being in the game all the way, they got knocked out 7 to 5. There was some good news with Jake picking up Best Intermediate Horse and Rider- congratulations to Jake.

* Cameron and Pat
Cameron and Pat played in the C open in a Yass team. They played Harden on Saturday morning and had a nice win, then in the afternoon they played Hall. This turned out to be harder for the boys and they ended up going down by a couple. This put them into a cross-over semi-final on Sunday morning against a strong Braidwood team. Unfortunately they ended going down by a few and the Braidwood team went on the win the comp, Well done to Pat and Cameron

* A Women's section consisting of Laura, Claire and Belinda
There were 4 sections in the A/B Women's competition with our girls having their first game against the strong Eurocoast section which resulted in a loss. The afternoon was a competitive game against the Yass section where they were able to come out winners. Sunday morning they played the Canberra girls with another win, putting them in the A grade final against Eurocoast again. This game our girls came out fighting and after a very close game, came out winners.

* Zoe and Maggie teamed up with Taylah Allen from Sydney and played C women’s
On Saturday they played Yass 2 and Yass 3 with all girls playing well to win both games, On Sunday morning they played against Bungendore 1 where they had another good win 5 to 2, and in the afternoon they came up against Bungendore 2 and came away winning. This put them on top of the C Women’s competition- congratulations to the three girls

* Skye and Charlotte played in the Junior Competition.
The girls played with Amy Glasgow from Sydney who was playing her second carnival. There were 3 sections of juniors in the competition, which meant they played the two other teams twice over the weekend. They won both games on Saturday and lost both games on Sunday, resulting in them being runners up in the junior comp. They played well and it is particularly pleasing to see how well both girls are playing and combining together nicely. Well done girls!

*Subbies pocket rockets of Bailey, Amelia, Sophie, Charlie and Hayden
Not to be scared by the cold weather, the kids were the lucky ones and got to play in their jackets all weekend. Charlie and Bailey combined with Bowen Greenslade while Sophie, Amelia and Hayden played together. As always, the kids had fun, got out and had a go at different positions and wanted to keep playing regardless of the weather! Well done kids!

Upcoming:
This coming weekend Maggie and Zoe are heading to Maitland to play with Taylah again- best of luck girls!
