Victory for the Dutch on home ground

The Netherlands won through on home ground at the fourth and last leg of the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ 2021 Division 1 series in Rotterdam (NED) today where Sweden lined up second ahead of France in third.

It was touch-and-go right down to the anchor riders on the leading teams as the second round progressed. However a total of seven faults proved good enough for the Dutch team of Maikel van der Vleuten (Beauville Z), Willem Greve (Zypria S NOP), Marc Houtzager (Sterrehof’s Dante NOP) and Frank Schuttert (Lyonel D) to keep the home flag flying at the top of the podium.

If Peder Fredricson and Catch Me Not Z could stay clear second time out then Team Sweden would have pipped the winners, but the open water proved highly influential in round two, and a mistake there left his side on a final tally of nine faults in runner-up spot.

France and Germany were drawn on a total of 12, but the French got the edge for third place when combined times were taken into account. Ireland finished fifth (13 faults), the exciting three-man Japanese team lined up in sixth (14 faults), while USA, Belgium, Switzerland and Norway filled the last four places in that order.

The Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ 2021 series will conclude with the Final in Barcelona (ESP) from 1 to 3 October, with all 10 Division 1 teams eligible to compete.
