An unbeaten century to Nicole Bolton has steered Australia to an eight-wicket win against India in the first of three One Day Internationals in Baroda.
Chasing 201 runs for victory, Bolton and fellow opener Alyssa Healy (38) got Australia off to a fast start, taking the total to 60 before the latter was dismissed.
In her first game back from shoulder injury, captain Meg Lanning made a composed 33 while Ellyse Perry (25*) provided good support to Bolton, the pair seeing Australia home with 17.5 overs to spare.
Batting first India posted 200 thanks largely to Sushma Verma (41) and Pooja Vastrakar (51).
Australia’s bowlers were rewarded for their disciplined bowling, taking wickets at regular intervals to have India 5-87.
Verma and Vastrakar fought back however, putting on a 76-run partnership before spinner Jess Jonassen (4-30) dismissed the pair.
Debutant Nicola Carey was also impressive finishing her 10 overs with figures of 0-28, while leg-spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington claimed 3-24.
